Taking place in June 2026 and just 40 minutes from Oakwood Valley, this scenic race wraps around one of Wales’ most breathtaking natural landmarks – and entries are opening soon.
Organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, and supported by Fix Auto and Hafren Dyfrdwy, the Lake Vyrnwy 10K brings together runners of all abilities – from seasoned trail pros to beginners tackling their first big challenge. Whatever your reason for running (fitness, fun, charity, or a personal goal), this event is about finishing with a smile and soaking up the scenery.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Lake Vyrnwy estate, the route offers more than just a run – it’s a moving experience through living history. This vast reservoir, one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, was created in the late 19th century to supply water to Liverpool.
Long before that, the valley was home to the village of Llanwddyn – a place of self-sufficiency, spirituality, and rural resilience. Today, the lake’s calm waters and forested hillsides stand as a tribute to the people, engineering, and legacy that shaped this part of Wales.
