Cycling & Walking

You can bring your bike or hire one at locations nearby if you fancy seeing Wales on two wheels or two feet. Venture into Eryri National Park, visit the Coed y Brenin Forest Park, Glyndŵr’s Way or The Giants of Vyrnwy trail to see the raw beauty of the Welsh countryside.

Fishing

Freshwater fishing in Wales allows anglers to catch all kinds of species. Lake Vyrnwy has stocks of rainbow and brown trout, and you can indulge in fly-fishing at Glyndŵr Fishery on the River Vyrnwy. The Moel Y Garth Pools are only 20 minutes away from our park, where you can catch roach, perch, carp, tench, rudd and bream.

Golfing

Choose from four golf courses nearby to Oakwood Valley. Welshpool Golf Club, St. Giles Golf Club, Lakeside Golf Course and Llanymynech Golf Club are within easy reach so you can take to the green and tee off on your holiday. Not only is golfing a great pastime, but when visiting these courses, it’s also a great way to see more of the surrounding scenery.

Horse Riding

Seeing Wales on horseback is a fantastic way to try something a bit different. For seasoned riders, there are challenging mountain paths and woodlands to test your skills, but beginners are welcome on easier trail rides. Be sure to find a local equestrian centre and saddle up for an adventure.

Wildlife

There’s so much wildlife to seek out in Wales, it’s hard to know where to begin! Eagle-eyed birders will be keen to see red kites, dippers, and kingfishers along the clear waterways. Watch out for river otters, weasels, hares, and foxes too – not to mention the huge range of insects you can find, including rare butterflies and moths.
