The Smallholding & Countryside Festival (Spring Festival) returns to the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells Powys, LD2 3SY on May 18th and 19th, offering a packed weekend of farming, food, and family fun. Celebrating Welsh rural life, the festival has something for everyone, from smallholders and animal lovers to families and foodies.

Smallholding & Agriculture

Featuring talks and demonstrations from the Glamorgan Smallholders group. Whether you’re an experienced smallholder or just curious, there’s plenty to learn. Agricultural trade stands offer supplies and advice for anyone interested in countryside living.

Competitions & Displays

With over 600 livestock and equine classes, including BSHA Royal International Horse Show qualifiers, the festival is a major event for competitors. Dog lovers can enjoy the Premier Open Dog Show, a Crufts qualifier. The Festival Display Ring will showcase Dangerous Steve, show jumping, and a dog display team. The Meirionnydd Shearing Centre hosts shearing and wool-handling contests, highlighting essential farming skills.

Family Fun & Entertainment

Families can explore the Country Life Area, featuring Panic Family Circus, Woodville Medieval Re-enactment Group, petting farms, and forestry competitions. Live music adds to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere, ensuring fun for all ages.

Food & Drink

Enjoy the best of Welsh food at the Food Hall and Welsh Food Village (Gwledd | Feast), where visitors can sample and buy tasty local produce.
